SITE FIRE SAFETY PLANS: CDM REGULATIONS
Background

Duties of Designers under CDM
Designers must not produce designs that cannot be constructed safely
Designers are required to critically assess their design proposals at an early stage, and then throughout the design process to ensure that health & safety issues are identified and addressed.
While the benefits of employing us to support the general building design phase of a project may be well known to you, you may not know that we are increasingly being asked to support the construction phase too!
Designer’s duties under CDM are concerned with the risks to those carrying out the proposed work and others who may be affected by it – and this is where our expertise will save you time and money, while ensuring that an adequate level of fire safety is maintained. We can deal expertly with all aspects of fire safety provision for you, leaving you free to concentrate on delivering the finished building.
Site Fire Safety Plan
You must produce a Site Fire Safety Plan to satisfy the regulations. A simple building project may only require a simple plan, and you may be able to produce an adequate plan by reference to appropriate guidance and the adaptation of a generic style plan previously used.
Larger and/or more complex projects demand a greater degree of knowledge and expertise – particularly where they are in an occupied building or link with one.
Our highly experienced and qualified fire engineers will review your construction plans, phase by phase, and give you the Site Fire Safety Plan that your project demands, phase by phase.
The plans we provide include all the information you require to ensure that legal standards are met, and your people and others are safe in a cost-effective and professional way.
Specifically, our report will provide you with all the necessary requirements to satisfy:
|
- Regulation 38: Prevention of risk from fire, etc.
- Regulation 39: Emergency procedures.
- Regulation 40: Emergency routes and exits.
- Regulation 41: Fire detection and firefighting.
